Fauré Pavane
Fauré Requiem
Ravel Shéhérazade
Ravel La Valse

A journey into the sensuality and spirituality of French music. The evening opens with the consoling peace of Fauré's Requiem , a prayer untouched by the terror of hell but only the hope of eternal light, enhanced by the celestial voices of Golda Schultz and Mikhail Timoshenko. Then comes the dream of a lush, imaginary Orient with Ravel's Shéhérazade . Finally, the intoxicating, dark vortex of La Valse , a waltz that dances on the brink of the abyss, a symbol of an elegance about to disintegrate. On the podium, Alexander Soddy.
